Stoke-on-Trent named in Sunday Times best up-and-coming areas in whole of UK
Stoke-on-Trent has been named as one of the UK's 'best up-and-coming areas to invest' in 2022. Each year, the Sunday Times releases a list of under-the-radar places where property prices are cheaper than more well-known areas.
It also celebrates towns and villages with good transport links, green spaces and a selection of shops, theatres, pubs and restaurants, as well as future projects in the pipeline.

The expert judges were tasked with identifying the 'down-at-heel cities' and 'dreary overlooked suburbs' that have all the right ingredients to be 'something bigger and better than the sum of their parts, and are set to change'. The idea is to encourage investors to buy in early and enjoy being part of the transformation, while also transforming your own bricks-and-mortar fortune.
Sunday Times writer Tim Palmer picked out Stoke-on-Trent as having a history 'history packed with arts, crafts and surprisingly appealing surroundings'. He went on to hail the £60 million Goods Yard development in Stoke as 'the biggest symbol of a Potteries renaissance' and adds that the city is 'bursting with potential'.
Extolling Stoke-on-Trent's oft over-looked virtues, he wrote: "HS2 and a history packed with arts, crafts and surprisingly appealing surroundings are helping Stoke-on-Trent’s efforts to catch the eye. The recently approved £60 million Goods Yard development, next to the station, with new homes, a hotel, work spaces alongside shops, bars, outdoor areas and gardens, will be the biggest symbol of a Potteries renaissance.
"The chef Cris Cohen, the founder of the city’s fine-dining outfit Feasted, is certainly optimistic. “Stoke is bursting with potential. Historically we created the foundations of hospitality and Stoke has huge potential to be a sustainable city of the future. It has so much development potential while being green,” he says."
